Sign-up sheets first, payments second
Cheddar Up is a money-collection platform with sign-ups attached. MySignMeUp is the other way round — the list is the product, and you can take payment on a slot when you need to.
The short version
Switch if what you are running is a list rather than a collection: Cheddar Up's free plan allows one sign-up per page and holds waitlists back to its Team tier. Stay on Cheddar Up if money is the point — eCheck, peer-to-peer fundraising and guest checkout are its actual product, and on larger payments its processing fees beat ours.

Why organizers switch
One page, as many lists as you need
Cheddar Up's free plan allows a single form or sign-up per page and up to five items. If you are running a potluck and a volunteer rota for the same event, that is two pages. Here it is one sheet with as many slots as the occasion takes.
Waitlists without the top tier
Cheddar Up puts waitlists on its Team plan at $35 a month billed annually. Ours are on the free plan, and they promote the next person automatically when someone drops out.
Built around the list, not the checkout
Most sign-ups never involve money. When yours does, you can price a slot and we add the fee at checkout — but you are not paying for a payments platform to run a snack rotation.
Templates for the occasion
Pick from ready-made sheets for potlucks, volunteer shifts, conferences, meal trains and more, with the slots already laid out. Edit anything after you start.
When to stay on Cheddar Up
If the point of the page is collecting money, stay. Cheddar Up is built as a payments platform: eCheck on paid tiers, peer-to-peer fundraising, cash and check tracking alongside card payments, and withdrawals to a bank or gift card links. We take payment on a slot; they run the whole collection.
Their fee structure also favours larger tickets. Both of us pass the fee to the payer by default, but at 3.95% plus $0.95 on the free plan, Cheddar Up costs less than our 5% plus $0.49 on anything much above forty dollars — and their Pro tier at 3.59% plus $0.59 widens that gap further if your volume justifies the $15 a month.
One caveat worth checking before you commit either way: Cheddar Up's pricing page publishes only annual-billed prices, so if you need to pay month to month you will have to ask them what that costs.
Switching questions
Is MySignMeUp cheaper than Cheddar Up?
It depends on what you are doing. For sign-ups without money, we are free where Cheddar Up's free plan caps you at one sign-up per page. For payments, our fee is 5% plus $0.49 against their 3.95% plus $0.95 on the free plan, so we are cheaper below about $44 per transaction and they are cheaper above it.
Can I collect money with MySignMeUp?
Yes. Price any slot and the participant pays at checkout through Stripe; you receive your full listed price and the service fee is added on top for the buyer. Connect your Stripe account from settings to switch it on.
Do participants need an account?
No, on either tool. Cheddar Up lets payers check out as a guest, and MySignMeUp never asks a participant to create an account at all — they open the link, claim a slot, and they are on the list.
What about waitlists?
Waitlists are on the MySignMeUp free plan and promote the next person automatically when someone cancels. On Cheddar Up, waitlists start at the Team tier, $35 a month billed annually as of 23 September 2026.
