For a meal train, use Meal Train. For the rest, here we are.
Meal Train is built for one job and does it better than a general sign-up sheet. MySignMeUp is for when your list isn't only meals — volunteer shifts, potlucks, supplies, classes — and you want one tool for all of it.
The short version
Stay on Meal Train if you are organizing meals for one family after a birth, surgery, illness or loss. The page is free, it asks for allergies and preferences up front, and helpers can send a gift card instead. Pick MySignMeUp when the same group also needs shifts, supplies or time slots, or wants waitlists that refill dropped spots.

Why organizers switch
One tool when the list isn't only meals
Run the potluck, the volunteer day and the snack rotation from one account, instead of a different site for each.
Waitlists that refill a dropped night
When someone backs out, the next person on the waitlist moves up on their own, so a night doesn't quietly go uncovered.
Caps on every slot
Set how many people each slot needs, from one meal a night to five helpers on a shift, and the slot closes when it's full.
Helpers sign up without an account
People open the link, pick a slot and add their name. Accounts are only for the organizer.
When to stay on Meal Train
For meals after a birth, a surgery, an illness or a death, Meal Train is the better tool and we would rather say so. It treats the recipient's allergies, preferences and favorite restaurants as part of the page, sends reminders a week and a day before each meal, and lets a helper who can't cook give a gift card or donate instead.
Its basic page is free, and $10 for Meal Train Plus covers more than one meal a day plus childcare, rides and errands. We have no dedicated fields for dietary needs or delivery times; on MySignMeUp you write those into the sheet description. If meals are the whole job, use Meal Train and skip the rest of this page.
